Swimming pools are always popular to cool off in those hot summer months or to keep the kids entertained.

Residence Eden has a large pool to the front of the complex, making the most of the views across the lake. The apartments also boast private balaconies & terraces with lake views.

Parking is a another commodity on Lake Como that does not go unnoticed. The availability of space on the steep hillsides and narrow lakeside roads, make parking space a premium. Residence Eden has private parking for all its guests, so personal or hire cars do not need to be squeezed into challenging spaces.

As Residence Eden is beautifully situated above Argegno town, then a stroll down to town is the perfect start to the evening ahead (after a hard day by the pool and pre-dinner drinks on the balcony). We believe this accommodation fulfills the requirements of most discerning visitors to Lake Como. Admittedly there is a hill to walk back up, but that's a small price to pay for comfort, location, privacy and car safety! Also the excellent local ferry service around the Lake can betaken from Argegno. This means that a car is not necessary all of the time and some exercise can be taken to make room for more pasta!

For those who wish to play golf, there are well known courses both in Como and Menaggio.

The famous Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Club in Grandola e Uniti, above Menaggio was founded over 100 years ago. With a destinctly British atmosphere, the course was designed by four English gentlemen back in 1907 & only became Italian in the 50's. The fairways are fairly narrow and challenging, an enchanted forest, as it has been described.

The golf course is both challenging & beautiful, with magnificent views and a wonderful clubhouse with sumptuous food and a wonderful ambience. You will require a car to reach this course comfortably and will it will take about 20 minutes to drive there.

Golf is very popular with around 82 courses in the region of Lombardy. People are always amazed how courses can be constructed within these mountainous areas. One of these such courses, mentioned in the first paragraph, has a world famous course nestled on the hill above Menaggio along with many others, such as the Villa D'Este Golf Club built in 1926, which dominates Montorfano Lake above Como, has spectacular views from 1200 feet and is the host to several amateur tournaments each year. Carimate Golf Club just 18km from Como and the 9 hole Golf Club Lanzo course in Lanzo Intelvi, 28km from Menaggio. With many others scattered throughout the lake region.

Argegno - The Village

Argegno itself, offers everything you could hope for in a typical italian village. The village has a bakery, geletaria, fruit & veg shop and a small mini market to provide any of our self catering guests with all the basics. There is also bank with an international cash machine to access any funds you may require for daily use. Credit cards and cheques are not usually used for small shop purchases.

Argegno also has a small harbour with marina and if you enjoy fishing (a licence required), there is a tackle shop (buy licence here). Argegno has it's own pebble beach with an adjoining pizzeria where sun loungers can be hired.

The village lies on the main lakeside road and is also on the main bus route. Importantly, the town also has a ferry terminal for passenger ferries and the fast hydrofoil. These are a great way of seeing the lake which gives a totally different perspective to the views from the lakeside.

Argegno also has the cable-car station which takes you to the village of Pigra where you can experience Lake Como from 800m! The cable cars run every half hour with a break from 12 - 2pm.

There are of course, numerous small bars in the village and a good selection of restaurants and bars and in the locality. We recommend you try these yourselves, but you can find many local recommendations.

For example Café Colombo is a tiny beautiful wine bar in the corner of the square with Italian 'tapas' and snacks available all day and a great atmosphere at night.

Lake Como- Where to start!

This is the size of the problem -many hundreds of thousands of words have been written about this wonderful area and on this web site, we cannot do it justice. We have however, given you a lot of links and background reading web sites.

Beauty really is all around you with elegant historic villas, colourful mediterranean gardens, beautiful fashion, delicious food and not forgetting, the fabulous villas and architecture.

Whether you would like to holiday on a shimmering summer's day or have come simply to admire snow capped Alps, winter sunsets and local ski resorts, make the most of this opportunity to visit the gardens and villas, you will not be disappointed. Visit Lake Como Villas to see more.

There are key points on the Lake that are well known and most often visited and for good reason. We have added links for these, but in a nutshell: Try Como city for the cathedral and the shopping, then the golden triangle of Menaggio, famous Bellagio and ancient but beautiful Varenna. Further north, the lake sides become less steep and rather more wind which makes it a very popular area for sailing and windsurfing, in towns such as Pianello del Lario, Domaso & Dongo.

You can take the mountain road over to Porlezza, from Menaggio to Lake Lugano Italy. A 20 minutes further and you are in Lugano, Switzerland!

Apart from the major well established historic attractions and popular yearly events, there is a multitude of other things to do.

Things To Do

Lake Como is visited by millions of people year round, but the seasons do play a part. With skiing, water sports, hiking and Golf as the primary outdoor activities the weather conditions play a big part.

With a mild winter climate at lake level in general and a sub-tropical climate in the summer, Lake Como is ideally situated to take advantage of all these activities, and excellent as a base for exploring or for day trip skiing without the costs!

Downhill and cross country skiing are available in the winter months close to Lake Como in the various local resorts (Pian delle Betulle, Piani di Bobbio & Cainello) and also an hours drive away at international resorts such as Madesimo & St. Mortiz.

Windsurfing, sailing, scuba diving are all popular summer activities with both training and equipment available for hire in various towns around the lake. The Northern and Southern ends are the most popular for wind based activities due to the shape of the Lake and channeling of the wind. There is never any shortage of things to do with historical trips, villa visits, helicopter & float plane rides, ferry excursions, trips to Milan, restaurants, shopping in Como, the Moto Guzzi factory, being just a few!
